Hi everyone, hoping you can give me some advice as I'm really struggling!
My son is 11 months old and between about 7 to 10 months we managed to get him in a routine where he would go down at 1930 and sleep through to about 0600, only occasionally waking up once during the night for an oz or so of milk. This was all fine as it meant we could all get some sleep, but for the past month or so it has completely flipped and he is waking up every few hours during the night crying loudly, only settling with milk.
I've looked up controlled crying as I dont feel like he is able to settle himself at all, hence why he is waking up and crying more often now. It has coincided with him getting closer and closer to walking, which I've heard stimulates the brain more meaning they can wake up more. Controlled crying wise, I understand it in the most part, but have a few questions:
- He is now able to pull himself up on the side of the cot but occasionally just falls over when trying and hits his head, which he does barely notice half the time, but should I be worried about that if I'm leaving him to cry and hes pulling himself up like that?
- How does it work during the night? If he wakes do I settle him, then leave roo. For 2 mins 4 mins etc etc?
He has been waking up before 5am recently as well, which isn't fun! This is working out at about 9 hours sleep (approx 8 o'clock he falls over).
Any advice is much appreciated!!
Thanks so much
Andy
