Back ache

Hi,
My 6 1/2 month baby is a very particular sleeper. To get him to sleep he requires either bouncing on a yoga ball or rocking in kind of a similar bouncing way! As a result my back is really starting to suffer.
He was settling himself to sleep quite well but was getting up regularly in the night so we moved him into his own room. Since then, he's stopped settling himself but is having fewer wake ups in the night!
We're working on settling again and he can occasionally do it with a hand hold but whenever he gets upset we intervene.
Any tips on getting to sleep in less painful ways? I would love if he would fall to sleep with a cuddle but if I try and sit down with him on a chair he gets very agitated! Any tips on him learning to fall asleep in this way maybe?

If make yourself comfortable first, he'll soon adapt to the new way. Replace with rocking, jigging whilst you sit
