8 months settling

We are struggling. Our 8 month old will not settle in her cotbed. She's always needed cuddling/feeding to sleep at a young age but we have managed to get her to fall asleep in her cot (sometimes) with Ewen, stroking her head and shushing. This sometimes will not work and she just gets distraught the second she is laid flat. If we walk away she screams (not prepared to do cry it out etc)

This has been going on since before xmas. We need to move past this. It can take up to an hour to get her to sleep and then she only naps for 45 mins. Night-time is similar and she will be up at least twice a night. We have a 2.5 year old as well, so he has to be left unattended when this is going on, if DH is at work

We are at our wits end. Any advice much appreciated.

Have you tried settling her in her cot so you don't have the laying her down bit to worry about? You could try some pick up put down settling techniques to settle her into this.
