Baby will only nap if held

Anyone have any other suggestions of things i can try to get my DS to nap for longer than 20minutes in his moses basket.
He’s a good sleeper at night in his next to me but during the day/evening he will only sleep in his moses basket for 20 minutes at most. He is currently asleep on my chest so I transferred him to his basket and within 5 minutes he was wide awake. So I picked him back up and he’s asleep again.
I have a my t-shirt in it and have his Euan the dream sheep on, I’ve tried swaddling and putting him in a sleeping bag, warming up the mattress. Any other ideas welcome. He is only 10 weeks old so may just be asking too much but wanted to see if there was anything else I could try

I have one of those too. She doesn't like the moses basket. My first didn't either. I reckon they are just uncomfortable. She will go in a swing seat for about an hour maybe 2 if I am lucky

Have you tried putting him down in the cot during the day? Might be he prefers the mattress or warmth of the room?

My first would only ever sleep in the pram or months and then in my arms. Eventually managed to transition to being put on the sofa once fast asleep.

Dont forget these early days they are still adjusting to the world so on you is a safe warm place to be. Enjoy the snuggling and watch some tv because eventually your life will be taken over by peppa pig and being told no 😁

If you need to get stuff done then invest in a sling just make sure you wake baby up for feeds cause mine will stay in hers for hours if I let her.

Mine’s the same. Sling is the answer.

@Oldfail I did wonder if he was uncomfortable. I’m gonna try him napping in the cot part of the pram today and see how we go.
I do love him sleeping on me but if you need to pee or eat it would be good to be able to pop him down and know he’ll stay asleep.

Have you tried swaddling him? you can do this till about 3 months and it might help him adjust to sleeping in his cot without you there.

Sling is your friend. I have a fabric one and can just about go to the toilet with baby in it and she isnt small.

If you havent got one already find a sling library so you can try them out and find one that suits you and baby. If baby likes it at all!

Dont worry about baby waking if put down. Their sleep cycles are about.40/45 minutes so they will go back to sleep.

I was so worried with my first making sure she stayed asleep but 2nd one I have realised that she will go back to sleep if she wants to and will fall asleep where she is if she is that tired

I have a purflo nest to use just for naps. My baby would not tolerate a Moses basket.
