Trying out gradual retreat

Hi mums, I’ve got a 15 month old who is so attached to me it’s crazy and even though he sleeps in his cot in his own room, he does wake up in the night several times n I usually go in and am forever patting him until he goes back to sleep. However, at around 4am and onwards - I too give up and end up bringing him to our bed where he sleeps through out! My HV suggested I try the gradual Retreat approach and tonight’s the first night! It took me 1 hr 44 mins to put him to sleep without patting him and I also ended up in tears as I couldn’t pick him up but hey it’s done. I suppose long term it will be better since I have baby due in 1 months time ?

Have you mums tried this approach and did it work for you? If so, how long did it take?

Any tips would be really appreciated Smile
