My LO has been waking at 4am for a few months now, I have tried letting him cry it out but I have 2 others who have school and don’t want him to wake them (he has the loudest cry). So have been bringing him into our bed but won’t go back to sleep unless I give him a bottle. Most of the time it takes over an hour to get him back to sleep, but it really varies. This is even in our bed, so sometimes we are up from 4am. It’s absolutely killing me. He has a morning nap at 9am for about 45 mins - 1 hour. Then a lunchtime one around 12:30-1 for about 90 minutes/ 2 hours. He then is so tried that we usually give him his bedtime bottle around 6:30pm. We tried giving him a little nap at 4pm so he would last out til 7:30 and he slept til 6am one night and then went back to his usual 4am wake up. It seems it doesn’t matter what time he goes down, he wakes at 4am. He sleeps in a sleepyhead grand in his own room, but think he has got into a routine of waking at this time and can’t self settle. Does anyone have any advice, as we are really struggling, as our other two slept well.

Have you tried really loading him up on solids and milk before bedtime to see it he's hungry?

I’ve tried a rich carb dinner and he has a good 8oz bottle, even tried a dream feed the other night and still woke up at 4!! maybe a white noise machine would work? Don’t know how many more early starts I can take.

Have you tried so taking the sleepy head away ? My 6 month old still naps in his during the day. But I take it away at bedtime, he wakes up between 4/5 for a couple of ounces but will usually go back to sleep in my arms I mean it can take upto an hour to get back over, but he will usually sleep until about 7.30 by then my 3 year old is up. I would recommend a nappy change an maybe a few ounces see how it goes ?
