5am wake ups all of a sudden

So my 17 month old went through a waking early phase for months and months and waking at night. I got strict and started to put him for naps after lunch instead of morning and it really worked. He would go till 6-6.30. The last few days he has woken at 5am for the day. I am trying to leave him but he gets quite loud and chatty. I dunno why this is happening but don't wana get back into this early thing again. He has started crying himself to sleep at night as I don't think he wants to stop stories and is more aware. He also quite often finds it hard to stay awake all morning. If we are out in morning he tends to cat nap on way to somewhere then down for afternoon sleep at 1ish where he might cry himself to sleep. Do u think this is causing early wake ups as he used to happierly go to bed but obviously more aware now. I hate it when u think u have cracked it and wana no what has happened to make him wake early again. I worked so hard to get him to 6-6.30. I have a 4 year old and they share a room so there is only so long I can leave him in the morning. Thankyou

At what time does he go to bed?
Could you give him his 1 nap a day from 11h30 or 12h? And let him sleep for 2 or 3 hours?
I think at that age mine use to nap from 11h30 to 14h30 and then go to bed around 6ish (and wake up any time between 6h and 6h30).

It depends on the day to the exact nap time as I go out with 4 year old and 2 days a week work so p in law and my mum have him. He will Cat nap bout 10ish if we are in car going somewhere then down by 1 till 2.30ish
Yesterday we didn't go anywhere in morning so no cat nap so 11.30 till about 1. Then bed at 7. So never any longer than 2 hrs of sleep in day as I think it's to much for him and affects sleep.

Ah ok. I would suggest an earlier bed time for a bit to see if it changes his wake up. I know it sounds odd but when they are over tired they wake up earlier.
Otherwise, it could be that he is cold so it wakes him up?

No bloody 5am again. What's frustrating is I no he can go to 6-630. What has happened in past 3 days to make 5am a time to wake up? He's started walking more in last week but seems tired by bedtime and settles quickly!! I hate the sudden change. I want to no why? Grrrr

Argh! That's annoying!
Maybe try an earlier bed time?! If that doesnt work, you might need to just ride it out. This too shall pass and all that...

Why???? Day 4 of literally 5am and hes awake. I went in at 520 and spent 10 mins stroking him. He is now chatting but shares a room!!!why? Nothing has changed but last week it was 6- 630 for about 3 weeks. There are birds tweeting but forvgodsake. Someone??
