5.5 month old awake for hours at night

For about a month my baby has been waking up after a first stretch of decent sleep at around 2/3am and is then awake for 2 hours. He will poo several times during this wake up just as he is getting drowsy again (being fed to sleep as nothing else works) and the nappy change wakes him fully. Another 30 mins or so later and the same thing happens just as he is falling asleep again. He is also pooing a lot more during the day for weeks. Doesnt seem to be in any pain. When he does fall back to sleep he will only sleep 1-2 hours and be awake again. He naps on me for a total of 2.5 - 3.5 hrs per day over 3 naps with last one ending at 5pm anf bedtime 7pm (although often takes an hour to get him to sleep at start of the night). Any advice? I dont mind waking up to feed but once I've been awake for hours it's hard to go back to sleep before he wakes up again so i am generally awake for the day from about 3 am!

Have you spoken to the GP/HV about the pooping? That seems to be the main problem here tbh, is it possible that he's having a reaction to something? Id reckon that once you sort out the pooping problem you can start weaning him off feeding to sleep, but at the moment there's no point until you've fixed the cause of him waking all the time.
