Nap transition

Just wondering what age your babies transitioned from 2 naps to 1? My LO is 9 months old & has been having a morning nap & an afternoon nap but recently the morning nap is getting later which means that the afternoon nap is later & she won’t go down at bedtime now. She seems to have a good awake time of around 4.5hrs so I’m tempted to give her a late morning/lunchtime nap & leave it at that but I’m worried that 9 months is very young to only have 1 nap. What do others think?
Thank you 😊

Mine was about that age - he just started resisting the morning nap and if I persevered till he fell asleep, he wouldn’t go down for his lunchtime nap! I think they all get there at different ages. How long is the morning nap? Could you try reducing it if you’re nervous about only having 1?

What time does she wake up in the morning? My DS was (still is occasionally) an early riser so we probably got 2 naps for longer than most. He would wake at 5am for the day and be having his morning nap by 9am. Afternoon nap would then be about 2/3ish and I wouldn't let him sleep past 4 for a 7pm bedtime. He went to 1 nap about 12 months, but it was a really long one (3+ hours).

She’s not on a particularly tight schedule! Wake up is anytime between 6.30-8. Her morning nap can be any time of 30mins to 1.5hrs 🤷‍♀️. Usually 3-4 hrs after wake up time. She is starting to resist the morning nap, hence I am starting to put her down later for it. Which makes me think I should pull her through TIL lunchtime & hope she does a long nap to get her through TIL bedtime... such a tricky business this nap larky!!

DS is 12 months his normal routine is
7am wake up (I wake him sometimes)
8am breakfast
9.30am 30 min sleep in pram (I wake him after this time)
10am snack
12pm lunch
1pm sleep for 1.5 hours in cot
2.30 milk
5pm tea
7pm bed

I tried for last two days to see if he was ready to move to one nap at 11.45ish but he was so exhausted in the morning he couldn't enjoy the class we go to. He also couldn't eat lunch as he was toi tired. So he's not ready yet to be on one.

I think it's just trial and error... All babies seem to be different

My DD was about 10mo. Her mornings naps were getting later and shorter, 10-15 mins by the end, so we tried a few days without and it's been fine since. She now has a long afternoon nap of around two hours and that's it. Makes getting to classes in the morning a lot less of a hassle now as don't have to try fit them around a nap!
