Sleep help - 4 year old

Hello,

I need some help! My four year old has stopped going to sleep at bedtime. She has always gone to sleep on her own, when she was small she would chat/sing to herself in bed and as she got older she would look at books. She would always be asleep within half an hour of going to bed.

In the last few months, she has been awake until 10pm. Nothing has changed with regards to bedtime at all! But she will not go to sleep. As soon as she gets into bed she says 'I'm not tired' and then stays awake. It's not too bad when she stays in bed and looks in bed, but most nights she shouts for silly things - over and over again!

People have suggested that maybe she doesn't need as much sleep as other 4 year olds but her behaviour has deteriorated in the day time.

Any ideas? We've tried a new night light, no light at all, earlier bedtime, later bedtime, I've sat with her for up to 3 hours (where I noticed she is constantly fidgeting!) I'm completely drained and I'm starting to dread bedtime...
