7 week old wakes every 1 1/2 hour at night...

First time posting...just need some help or comfort! I have a 7 week old who was wanting a feed every 2/3 hours at day and sleeping those stretches night (sometimes less) but the last three nights he wakes up at night every 11/2 hours between feeds on the dot whilst still doing the (slightly) longer stretches during the day. The naps during the day are in the pram or a sling, he won’t be put down for long. Sleeping at night is in the next to me crib. I’m just slightly dismayed when I keep hearing after 6 weeks sleep should be getting more organised we seem to have had a night sleep regression! We do all the day/night difference sleep tricks and I think he does know the difference as he goes back down at night, it’s not like he is wide awake. Feeds at night are often quite short, around 10 minutes and I can’t get him to take more. Do you think I should just try and comfort instead of feed? Any tips to help? I’d blame a growth spurt but day time feedings haven't changed! Or just as valuable has anyone been here but can offer a light at the end of the tunnel?!I’m struggling here waking up so so often just when I thought the nights might start to get better....Sad

I'm only 3 weeks ahead of you and I have by no means cracked sleep but we were in a similar position and I was despairing the suddenly she started sleeping better. Basically, it does get better but it's not linear or consistent. But there is light at the end of the tunnel! The main advice I've had is to have a consistent wake up time (7am) from 8 weeks to help kickstart their routine. Totally get how knackered you are, I am too xx

I do think you should still feed on demand during the night. If you baby is very close are you picking him/her up at th first squeak? Sometimes its worth a try leaving for a minute to see if its a real wake

At 7 weeks I'd still feed every time they wake. DC2 is 17 weeks and went through a phase of 9 hours in a row, currently we're at wakings every 2 hours and only feeding to sleep works.

It's really hard but key to remember sleep just doesn't gradually improve, it's not linear. Tomorrow you might start getting 5/6/7+ hours in a row- it can change that quickly.

They're 7 weeks old! Don't have any expectations, goals, plans. Just do what your baby needs you to do. Don't read up on what ages babies start doing things it's all a load of bullshit!

Rightly or wrongly i would say dont stress. My 2 year old woke hourly until he was 14 months but is a brilliant sleeper now. It largely resolved itself with a little gradual withdrawal

7 weeks is still tiny and it'll be rare that sleep isn't all over the place at this age. My twins are 6 weeks and one wakes once, the other is every 1.5-2hrs - same age, same routine. Babies are all different and only 1.5hrs between feeds at this age is exhausting, but unfortunately pretty normal!

Thanks all. Good to be reminded not linear...I think I have been getting caught up in seeing ‘improvements’ but might be sudden as you say. Will try and re-set expectations...
