Advice for 5 week old and screams at night for hours

Looking for some advice, my DS has reflux and also noticed he has alot of trapped wind. In the evenings he starts screaming from about 8pm onwards, sometimes he will sleep for an hour or so then the screaming starts again until about 3 or 4am. Once hes finally settled he can sleep for a good 4/5 hours but its the initial screaming thats sending us over the edge, nothing seems to settle him, a couple of weeks ago we thought he was turning a corner as he was starting to sleep in his snuzpod granted still waking after a cpl of hours but it was progress but now hes gone back the way and hates sleeping on his back and constantly wriggles and wakes himself. During the day especially in the afternoon i find he doesnt nap long and the slightest thing wakes him.

If anyone has any tips or advice on how to help him settle, ive tried the tree hold, water bottle in crib etc nothing serms to work

My now 5 month old was the same at that age. The only thing which settled him when he was like that was being in a sling whilst I walked around which wasnt ideal. He grew out of it in the end. We tried reflux medication in case it was that but it didnt help.

My little girl did this. 5pm-11pm solidly, for months. Took to the doctors... we tried everything.
In the end we just used ear plugs to muffle the noise/listen to music. Just cuddled her, comforted her the whole time. There was nothing else we could do.
Eventually it just stopped. My mum said I had it so she put me on solids at 4 months and it stopped.
I tried to with mine but she loved her milk too much! x

We had something similar when our wee one was around 3 weeks (4.5 months now). When we changed to dr browns bottles the screaming and gassiness seemed to cease. I'm not 100% recommending these as I can't be certain it was the bottles or him growing out of it that worked. Hope it passes quickly though as it's tough x

We had the same, it was cmpa so I cut out dairy which solved the screaming but she would still only want to sleep on my chest

We had this. Every evening. Would start at 8 on the dot. She just grew out of it. The only thing that would help was dancing with her as silly as that sounds.

Omeprazole!!

Our DD was like this, we tried infacol for colic which really helped and she's much better now

Thanks everyone, ive bathed him and fed him a bit later and he seems calmer but for how long is anyones guess.

We have omaprezole for the reflux and have bought infacol so going to see if that helps as i do think he has a touch of colic

We had this. Lots of "Hungry!" "Reflux!" "Trapped wind!" "Something in your milk!" suggestions but nothing really worked. It helped to learn that this is a developmental phase some babies just go through.

purplecrying.info was useful. Also walking/bouncing the baby in a sling while listening to music on headphones.
