Getting 8 month old to nap in cot

Hello,

My 8 month old sleeps reasonably well in her cot at night. However all her naps are on me, pram or car seat.

If I put her down asleep for a nap she wakes 20ish mins later. I’ve never been able to get her to sleep from being out awake in the cot.

Does any have any practical tips for getting her to nap in the cot?

At the moment I’m thinking I’ll just keep putting her down asleep for her first nap and see if it improves before doing the same with her second nap. Then she’s not super overtired by bedtime. Then tackling getting her to fall asleep in her cot.

Should I just skip straight to the falling asleep in her cot part?

I'm in exactly the same boat with my 8 Mo, who is currently asleep on me! But I did start to put him down for his first nap in cot about 3 weeks ago, and now he's up to 30-45 mins in there for this nap. Although I have to put him down asleep, can't put him down awake, no chance would he drift off!!

I'm hoping to phase in another one soon, but I must admit I like the cuddle naps too!

I found the more he got used to it the longer he slept for, and now he sleeps for the same amount of time for that nap as he would if he was on me.

That’s brilliant. Just got to hold on in there I guess!

Yep!! I think it will all happen now eventually. When he has little he'd only sleep on us at night too, so I guess they just do it when they're ready, and you just have to persevere

My 7 month old wakes after 30 mins, I leave her in the cot and put my hand in her stomach and rock until she goes back to sleep. She has 45 mins in a morning, 1 1/2 hours in afternoon and 45 mins in the evening. I’m hoping over time she stops waking after 30 mins as she was doh g it at 6 months but something must be happening development wise.
