We put DS in his first toddler bed about 2 weeks ago. He's 2 years and 2 months old. First few nights he took maybe 10minutes or so to stay in bed but LOVED it on the whole. He had new bedding he adores, all his cuddly toys etc. Now though he's a nightmare taking us about 1.5hours of up and down the stairs while he gets out of bed and onto the landing. The whole time he wants me, made worse as I am 38 weeks pregnant and just cannot go back and forth anymore. DH has been having to repeatedly put him down. Once hes asleep he's down until 7am but it's absolutely relentless until then Sad

Any pointers please?

I have a 3 and a 2 years old, both sleeping in my bed... I was just too tired to fight with them every night.... 🙄 💝

Strange question , is there a bed guard on the side of his bed? I have had a child not feel safe in the bed before after changing from a cot because there was suddenly no sides.
Obviously I don't know your bed time routine. But maybe try a strict routine of bath story and bed every night.

Sorry I've just re-read your post. He sounds like he might be getting a little separation anxiety. Maybe a photo of the family in his bedroom?
I've heard before of drawing a heart on a child's hand and your hand, they press it when they miss you. And tell them you will feel It too. It's usually used as a method for coping while at school alone? But this could work?

Help.
5 months ago my 2 and half year old wouldn’t stay in bed despite up to 2 hours of repeatedly taking him back again. I discovered that if I sat by his bed for few minutes he would go straight to sleep. In the last month he has been waking a few times in the night and each time he wants me to sit with him. Had enough and thought as I’m off from work at Xmas would start to stop the sitting by the bed. 3 nights in taking around 2 hours at bedtime and possibly again in the night of constantly taking him back to bed he gives in eventually but sooo tiring anyone else had similar who could help with advice please
