Afternoon naps

My 5 month old baby is now a pretty good sleeper, she sleeps from about 6.30pm -7.00am with between one and two wake ups for a quick feed then back down. She sucks her thumb and is able to self settle which is great. She has two morning naps in her crib (30-45 mins) which she goes down awake for but goes almost straight to sleep after less than 5 minutes. However, she refuses all afternoon naps. I am not complaining as I know I am lucky with her sleep, I'm more curious to see if anyone else has this issue. She literally screams and is red in the face the second I put her down. I try every day but I always end up picking her back up and letting her sleep on me as she is usually so so tired. She will sleep fine if we are out and about in the pram or car seat. What reason could there be that she sleeps in her crib for her morning naps but not in the afternoon? Today we were out and she was about to fall asleep in her pram just as we got home so I quickly put her in her bed and sure enough she wouldn't sleep. It's honestly like anytime after 12 she won't sleep in there but she obviously doesn't know the time 🤣 anyone had this issue?

Never had this problem, however came to comment that her sleep pattern likely will change in the coming 3 months, as they develop they go through all sorts including teething, separation anxiety, heightened awareness and more which disturbs their patterns. If she seems happy enough without a nap, and is sleeping so long at night I personally wouldnt force her to, I'd just watch for her cues such as rubbing eyes or ear early on. Others may have other opinions though. Do what works for you and her at the end of the day x

I would say she needs the nap as she is always knackered and rubbing her eyes etc and will fall asleep on me, just won't take it in her crib for that one nap. Weird.

Oh I know, we've been through so many sleep changes already, she hasn't always slept well so I'm just enjoying it while it lasts! Sounds like I've got a lot to look forward to in the coming months.
