My ten month old baby hasn’t slept through the night for months now. Recently he wakes up screaming and is unable to be settled for longer than half an hour. he goes to bed at 8, but by 11 I’ve been up settling him about three or four times. Then the night comes and he’s awful, screams, fidgets, fusses, every two hours. He has a dummy which helps then has a bottle at about 1 but even then he wakes up so regularly. I’m knackered. I work 10 hour days. He only has 1 nap a day for about an hour. I can’t control cry as he just absolutely screams and is just a mess bless him, and we have neighbours next door who can hear everything and regularly make a comment about how he’s got a set of lungs on him, it makes me feel like I can’t continue to attempt the controlled crying as he’s just so loud and I feel bad. Besides the times I’ve tried he just Loses it. I don’t know what to do :( he used to sleep like a dream and now it’s all down hill.

I have a 10m old too. Sounds like your baby is overtired.

If you're working 10hrs a day how do you know he only gets an hour nap? Who administers and monitors his nap?

8pm is far too late for baby to go to bed. My DD goes down at 6.30pm m, this is follows a morning nap of about 20min and a 2hr lunch nap.

Sometimes she sleeps through, other times she wakes for a bottle at 4am. She'll sleep till 7.15am-ish.

That sounds grim. Really sorry. Regular wakings are dreadful and you have my deepest sympathies!

Controlled crying isn't the only type of sleep training. There's the one where you gradually retreat. There's that one called pick up put down. Sure google will give you more options for sleep training varieties that don't involve crying. I've read that they are pretty much as effective as the ones that do.

Hi could your baby be having a growth spurt?my youngest was always really unsettled at night when he was hungry & had reached a new milestone rolling over, crawling, walking etc
Giving him 3 mini meals with plenty of carbs always worked & upping his milk intake when having plenty of solids throughout the day staved off any nighttime hunger

Or would it be worth a check up?as also ear infections have been the other issue if night time sleep is disturbed in our house

Hope this helps & you get a good night soon x
