PLEASE HELP GETTING OUT OF BED ISSUE

Ok I need help.
My 22 month old has never slept well. In fact she has only slept through the night a couple of times since she was born. (I have two older boys who have no sleep issues). She can climb out of her cot so she now has a single mattress on the floor in her room and I have converted the cot into a bed.
She will not stay in her bed or in her room. At all. I have tried:

  1. returning her to her bed, no eye contact, etc = works eventually to get her to sleep but she roams around the house when she wakes up in the middle of the night/falls asleep on the landing/stairs.
  2. Tying her door shut = she passes out with exhaustion behind the door after screaming tantrum, I put her in bed, leave door untied, she gets out in middle of the night.
  3. Confiscating toys = screaming fit and getting out of room, same problem arises in the middle of the night.

My children are 4, 3 and 22 months. I am on my knees with exhaustion. Please help.

I have also tried ignoring her when she gets out of bed = pottering round the house quietly then falling asleep on living room carpet/stairs, I put her back in bed then we have the same problem in the middle of the night

You poor thing - disturbed sleep is the worst kind.

My DS1 went through phases of not staying in his bed at night and in the end I barricaded him in. His bed was against a wall with a sleep rail at the top and a chest of drawers against the bottom half so he couldn't get out. I don't know if he felt more secure or if he just couldn't get out but it certainly helped and he was sleeping through again within a few weeks. The other thing that was suggested to me by HV was a stairgate on his bedroom door.
