Hi!

I've never posted on one of these sites before so am really hoping someone may have answers for me:)

Our little girl is coming 4 months, she has never been a great sleeper, however we have always had a bedtime routine and she now understands it and will go to sleep in her Moses basket in our room easily at 7pm. Usually, then she would wake every 2/3 hours or so for feeds (I breastfeed), sometimes she'd be a bit hard to settle again, other times fine - in other words, we were coping and happy with where we were going!

However, recently she has started thrashing her arms, legs and head around (awake) she starts around 11pm and does so for two hours or so, then she sleeps for a bit then continues etc. I thought it may be trapped wind as sometimes bicycle legs releases some, but I really do't know if that's what it is....

I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced this and if they found out what was causing it or have any ideas?

Thank you so much in advance!

Hi OP. Sounds like the classic four month sleep regression. Big changes are happening at this age and baby is trying to link sleep cycles together but it can really disrupt their nighttime sleep and naps for a while. It’s just a phase and I really hope that it passes for you soon, just wanted to reassure you that it’s totally normal for her age.

Thank you so much for this - rally appreciate it and after reading about the 4 month sleep regression I now know that is definitely what we are dealing with!!
