My 15 month old has just come through an awful week of illness nad had his jabs. He has been an early riser and had paid for a sleep consolatant who had helped explain about naps and early wakis and controled crying etc.... After a few weeks of really hard work we were generally down to ome long after lunch nap and waking at 6ish which was a masiive improvement. Last week he was sleeping till 7 and naps were all over the place coz of illness and tiredness. Now hes back to waking at 5 or 520 or today 430! I have been doing the long after lunch nap now for 3 days.He ia better but still looks to tired so dunno if i ahouls give him a cat nap in morning or put him down earlier. Coz sleep consultant said early wakings are nornally over tiredness. I am currently in middle of controlled crying which normally works but today hes juat getting hysterical and sitting up. Its now 5 and been going on since 4.15. He shares a room with his 4 year old sister who is luckierly having a sleepiver with grandma tonight. She normally sleepa through but is strating to become more aware. The thing is when he wakes at 6 he can go till 12ish but 5 or. 530 he can go to then but looks really tired. Its all so screwed up. I hate that i spent so much time on training him and now hes been a bit ill its all gone to pot! I get really angry and this is one of triggers. I am really tired from having an ill child and a 4 year old all week and starting a new job. I need him to sleep till 6! Any advice thankyou x

In a similar boat and really needing some advice!!
......
We are really needing some advice about settling a newbie night waker back to sleep. DS has always slept well and slept what we classed as ‘through the night’ without a feed from 3/4 months old. When he has gone through night waking in the past, he has always been comforted by a cuddle or rocking and gone back to sleep relatively easily which has been lucky. Since catching a bug, almost a month ago he his sleeping has gone to pot. During the time he was unwell, we soothed and cuddled and even took him to bed to keep him settled (he was struggling to sleep with a blocked nose as well) and got by. He also went through a fussy phase where he wasn’t eating and seemed to be demanding milk so we started giving him a little milk to go back to sleep which was working..
Now with his eating back on track and with him feeling back to normal, we’re trying to establish a good nights sleep again without much luck. Cutting milk back, or trying water isn’t working. We even tried to let him cry it out which we have never done and it was very traumatic. Ended up giving in to milk after 1 hour and 20 mins of tears that got absolutely hysterical.
This is so new to us and we are really looking for any advice that help DS, it’s easy to feed milk but I know he doesn’t need the nutrition from it and is capable of sleeping through.
Teething might be coming into play too but we have give him gel or calpol where it looks like he needs it. Naps have gone from one short and one long nap to one middle of the day nap so maybe he’s overtired, but I haven’t been trying to control the naps too much and let him nap if he wants.
Any advice greatly appreciated.
