19 month old sleep problems

My little one recently turned 19 months old, since around 8 months he has slept 12 hours straight every night. Around 2 weeks ago he started to wake once or twice I think he night crying and wanting to be picked up, all of a sudden he doesn't want to be in his cot (he has slept in his own room since 6months old) now things have gotten worse to the point he's up every 1-2 hours crying and will only settle down when laying with me, he will lay with me some nights wide awake for a few hours then eventually fall asleep. Last night he was awake till 4am and then fell asleep with me. He has always had a strict routine, bed at 8pm every night, he has a routine throughout the day also. I am unsure of what the cause of this could be and would be grateful for any advice you have.

Sorry to hear you're having issues with this, @mummy1814 - we're just bumping your thread and hopefully someone will be along soon with some useful advice. Flowers

Hi, I'm in the same boat. My 18 month used to be a great sleeper, 12 hours. He picked a really nasty virus a month ago and although on the mend now he hasn't slept well since. Someone did mention the 18 month sleep regression is quite common though 🤷‍♀️
