5 month old waking in the night

Hi

Second time mum here, first DD was a nightmare with her sleep. Didn't sleep more than a 2 hour stretch until she was 1. Now aged 3 and sleeps well.

Looks like we have a similar problem with my 5 month old DD. Wakes every 1-2 hours in the night. If we're lucky we get a 3 hour stretch. Settles fairly easily, with a cuddle, sometimes a feed (ebf).

Main issue is that every night, for the past week at least, she wakes up at 2, 3, 4am and is then wide awake for 2 HOURS!! Wants to play, is fascinated by everything in sight (even in darkness), cries now and again, pick her up to cuddle her, then starts babbling away, put her back down, repeat..for 2 hours! You get the idea!

Naps are generally okay. Nap at 9am for 1 hour. 12-1.30ish. 3.30-4.15. Sometimes another power nap before bed. Bed somewhere around half 7. This is a very loose schedule but generally follows this pattern.

Any help greatly appreciated, both for the night time wakings and naps :)

Oh and to add, she has most naps in next to me cot, and nights are also in next to me. She is already mobile, cruises around any flat surface by pushing herself up with her elbows and feet. Rolls constantly. This I think is also waking her up, when she rolls onto the side of the cot. Perhaps moving her into the big cot will help? She's also a very windy baby, currently getting her stool tested for any intolerances!

I have no advice but I'm following because we have the same issue with our 5 month old. He will not sleep more than an hour every night without waking.

TokenGinger it's tough isn't it :( hopefully someone will come along to help us soon!

DD is currently having a long nap to make up for her lost sleep last night 🙄 never know whether it's wise to wake her or not in these instances!

My 5 month DD has been waking for atleast an hour and a half or 2 hours most nights its draining! Luckily only once though. It can be anytime from 12:30 onward!

Then like yours she has a long nap to make up for it!

No solution but in the same boat rocking away with ya

It's such hard work. I was googling sleep consultants at 3am!
