7 month old sleep issues

Hi all, any advise will be greatly appreciated.

I am currently at the end of my tether with sleep deprivation. My baby has always been a poor sleeper, literally from day one. He is now 7 months old and wakes regularly for a bf. For example: last night he went to sleep at 8pm woke at 11.30, 2.30, 4.50 for a feed then at 5.30 but was patted back to sleep and then fully awake from 6.45-7am.
We started to wean him from 6 months but it has not been going well, he is not really interested, i try spoon feeding and finger foods but this is a another topic, for now i will keep offering him food at every meal with the hope that he takes to it soon.

He used to take the dummy for all of his sleep and resetting with that was a dream as once re-inserted he would go right back to sleep, however we reached a point were we were waking continuously all night long to put the dummy back in, which became a nightmare so i decided to remove it a couple of weeks ago.
He now falls asleep in his cot, in the sleepyhead (which is beside my bed as i bf). Getting him to sleep has always been an issue too, however we have made some improvements, he falls asleep whilst lying down and patted to sleep, on a few occasions he has fallen asleep without any patting/crying involve but these havebeen rare.
I am not saying that i need him to sleep through the night, as i do not think he is capable of that yet however if the feeding reduced to just one feed that would be a big relief for me...any advice would be very welcomed. Apologies for the long post!
