Volunteering to help New Mums

Hi all,
I read a tweet recently about how postpartum depression could probably be helped by getting good sleep, just, considering logic. This idea really resonated with me so I'd like to help new mums by volunteering for a couple hours a week to just care for a newborn while they get some rest. Any thoughts or recommendations on such an idea? Or where to get started doing so?

You could volunteer with your local homestart? It wouldn't just be newborns as you are paired with a family needing support for a longer period. The support is very welcome though - my volunteer was great (and in the early days with my twins did let me get much needed rest).

How lovely and what a thoughtful idea. I don't know how you'd get started but maybe seek advice at children's centres. One thought I have is that as a new mum I couldn't leave my child with a stranger - the hormones and bond would make me too anxious. So that's something to maybe address in your plan. I'm sure you can. Good luck Smile
