9 month old waking up at 4am

Would really appreciate some help please.

We’ve been trying some gentle sleep training which has helped with getting 9 month old sleeping longer stretches. The problem is, he now wakes at 4am and won’t go back to sleep for at least 1.5 hours and it’s killing me. He’s been doing this for the past two weeks.

He goes down at around 7pm awake but drowsy (a breastfeed is the last thing in the bedtime routine), he flip flops in his cot for 5 mins or so then sleeps until 4am when he wakes crying.

To start with I would feed him back to a drowsy state at 4am and that worked out fine for a while but now when I pop him in his cot after a feed he cries. I try to resettle him with shhh, checking on him in intervals but nothing seems to work. Tonight I just gave in and fed him to sleep.

Would really appreciate some advice on how I can coax him into having a more reasonable wake up time please!

No advice I'm afraid but I think there's something in the water. My DS is 13 months next week and is waking at 4.30am every day and it's killing me. We've tried everything from introducing super to extra layers in case he's cold. Nothing seems to be working. I'm like a walking zombie mum. I hate it. Telling myself it will pass but the longer it goes on the more I think he will never sleep past 4.30am in his life.
I've read that 4am is prime time for being cold so maybe try adding a layer or a blanket when they wake?

@Thegracefuloctopus thank you, that’s a great shout. He’s got a sleepsuit and a 1 tog sleeping bag at the moment as the room temp never drops below 22 according to the BT monitor but maybe it’s wrong Confused

Hope your little one wakes up at a more reasonable time soon!
