if my 6.5 mo ds sleeps from 8 till 6 (plus some awake time for feeds) - being 10 hours - should I be adding and extra 2 hours nap time during the day??

Yes. At that age 10 to 11 hours at night is what they need for a normal night's sleep and a daytime nap is still necessary.

Plus, keep up the nap for as long as possible to get some rest for yourself. When he starts crawling and walking you will need it!

Yes. My ds is three and sleeps 11hours at night and has a two hour nap in the pm, and I heartily recommend it!

My 7 month old sleeps nearly 12 hours at night and then 2 in the morning, 1 or 1.5 in the afternoon.

Hasn't always been that way but she definitely needs it.

he does usually have 2 hrs in the morning an hour in the afternoon.
but should he have extra to make up for not having 12 at night?

my ds is awake at 6 at the moment wanting his bottle. A bit hit and miss with his solids at the moment, teething, some days not much appetite. So I give him his bottle, and then put him straight back down, and he usually goes back off till 7.30 8ish. Then just carry on with rest of naps as normal.
