How many does your child have?
When did they go 2-1?
How long and what time do they sleep?
Just trying to get a feel for what others do at this age
Thank you!!

Hi OP. I have a 15mo DS and he went down to one nap at 11mo. Before that he was having one longish (90mins) nap in the morning, and then a quick catnap at about 3:30pm. He was fighting the second nap and when he did have it he was awful at bedtime, so we cut down to one. Now he naps for 2hrs, 11:30am - 1:30pm. Sometimes he wakes up a bit earlier, anything after 1pm seems to be enough. He's very regimented and if he's not sleeping by 11:30 he takes ages to drop off!

DD was pretty much the same, although I think she was 12mo when she went down to one. Same 2hr nap at 11:30, though, and also very regimented and only ever slept in her cot. DS does have to nap in the buggy if we're out for the day, and then he usually only has about 45mins and is unpleasant later! I try to avoid it whenever possible.

My 18 month old is in the transition of changing from 2 naps to 1. To be honest, I think he still needs two but we're trying him on one to a) see if it makes an improvement at night and b) because he only has one at nursery and I don't want to confuse him and c) I believe he's at an age where he should be having only one and all his mates the same age only have one. He was the last of his little mates to go from three naps to two as well.

He wasn't fighting either nap when he was still on two a day and he still looked knackered all day, just like he does now on one a day. He does still have two on his swimming day though as his lesson is at 1.30pm and I can't keep him going long enough to have it after swimming, and if he has it in the morning it's too long till bedtime. So he has one before and one after swimming.

So far there's been no improvement at night 🙄 but it is making my life easier just having to worry about the one, although I did enjoy an afternoon nap myself when he went down for his and I'm missing that now!

My DD transitioned from two naps - a 90 minute morning one and a shorter 30 minute from around 3pm - to now a 2 hour average around 1pm/1.30pm. She wakes at 8am.

However!! I am thinking that she may not need a full 2 hours. It's been harder to get her settled at night and she sometimes isn't in bed until 9pm/9.30pm. This means I get very little evening time with hubby. I have tried to maybe move he nap earlier but she seems to be a 5/5.5 awake Bub.

Any advice or suggestions?

I am considering waking her earlier - 7.30am, but after a lonnnngg day and evening it's tempting to have some time in the morning or a lie in.

15 month old DD here .. she's on one nap a day for the main part - usually around dinnertime for 1-1.5 hours if she's at nursery, I'm lucky to get 45 minutes at home! If we're out and about in the car she might have an extra one.

She dropped to one nap around 12 months, took a good few weeks.

15 month old still usually has 2 naps. I think he's cutting down to 1 now gradually, but he's not well at the moment and got a few teeth popping through so it's been mostly 2 lately.

Previous child had dropped to 1 before they were 12 months which was straight after lunch til mid afternoon.

DD 15 mo went from 2-1 at 10.5 mo when she started nursery, just like that! We now follow nursery for nap to keep her week as similar as possible. She has her lunch around 1130-1200 and she goes for a nap immediately after, which we cap (and which nursery cap) at 1h30 / 1h45 max. At nursery she just goes in her bag and goes in her little crib, at home she goes in her bag and has a couple of oz of milk when she goes in her cot. She sleeps 630-630 ish when shes not n in a leap/teething :)

DD is 18 months and has been on one nap for a while now. Can't remember exactly but probably about 3 months? She changed at nursery before she was ready at home.

We've found it really positive. Not as tied to the house (will only nap in the cot) and it's a much longer nap so we can usually get stuff done and also get a bit of a break.

@MooKnee sorry forgot to mention - she is 15 months.

My DS is 18 months and has decided he doesn't want to nap about 2 weeks ago 😖 I think he's had 2 naps over the last 2 weeks, 1 was 30mins and 1 was an hour!

He dropped to 1 nap at about 11 months!

From 11 months until 2 weeks ago he would have about 2 hour nap 11-1ish. And I would always aim for bed at 7 which at 11 months worked, and then the older he's got the later bedtime got. For the last 3 months he never really went to bed before 8.30 and it was usually closer to 9.30pm, he wakes up 7-7.30am.

But the last 2 weeks of no naps means he's been in bed at 6 and then pretty much slept through until 7am! We bed share so he will wake up to check im there and if I'm not in bed yet I just have to go in for 5 mins while he drops back off.

But surely this is too young to drop naps? I don't know whether to keep trying to get him to nap, the twice he's napped he is then up until at least 9pm even if it's only a 30min nap!
