Everything is wet!

My LO is 7 months. Every morning when he wakes up he is soaking wet, baby grow wet, bed sheet wet (he sleeps in a cot bed). I change him during the night twice if I can but at least once when he wakes up. But every morning I go in he is soaking wet. I haven't changed the type of nappies I'm using, I've tried putting a vest on underneath to try and hold the nappy better but doesn't work.

Does anyone have any ideas?!

What size nappies is he in? What's his weight? Are there gaps?
He might need to go up/down a size.
I know with little boys you have to point their penis down or something? I'm sure you're doing that already but I don't have boys.

At 7 months mine did the majority of the wetting on waking. If you can go in to him when you hear him stirring (rather than when he’s fully awake a few minutes later) and hold him on a potty then, or over the loo, it might work.

Try different nappies. Different brands might suit him better. I've always used pampers + nappies at night, although I've heard good things about Aldi and Lidl for nighttime too. They would be my next try if we had leaks. You could also try nappy pants, they are stretchy around the hips so may fit more snugly if he's a wriggler, pampers do a size 4 which should fit.

Pampers care mat in the cot might make clean ups easier

Is it cold or still warm? You might need to change at a different time? I think it was around this age my daughter used to start holding her wee then it all came out in a rush and the nappy couldn't cope

I've checked all sizes of nappies as I recently got hiM weighed and he is in the correct size (number 3).
We currently use pampers pull up nappies and have been using them for a while now and have never had a problem with them. I personally didn't like the Aldi ones.
It's really strange cause some mornings he's dry and then some morning he's drenched.
It doesn't take me long to sort him out but I'm just concerned about his skin.

Pampers always leak for us overnight somehow and the pullups are the worst for it.
We switched to Asda own brand and never had a leak.
Weirdly, we used Pampers for DD and they were fine, it's only with DS we have the issue! Maybe it's a boy thing??

Move away from the pullups overnight - or put a traditional nappy on him at the chance in the middle of the night. Imo pullups dont hold as much.

Put an extra muslin in the nappy. It'll soak up the excess pee.

Have you checked the basics? Leg frills all pulled out? Willy pointing downwards? Vest not too small (so there's room for nappy to expand with wetness?)

We had to go up to size 4 nappies when DD was apparently 2.5 kg too light for them, but size 3s were leaking (wee and poo) almost every time. We changed to a size 4 and the leaks stopped.

We had to switch to size 4 when DD was well under the weight limit too. We used size 3 pampers nappies until she was about 7 or 8 months and then they kept leaking all the time and were really tight and digging in to her. But size 4 pampers nappies were way too big and gaped around her thighs. So we moved to Boots size 4 nappies and Superdrug size 4 nappies which start at a smaller size/weight than Pampers size 4 and these both fit her much better and no more leaks. I think you need to experiment with different nappy sizes/brands.

Also my DD is 16m and sometimes wears Pampers size 4 nappy pants but we have changed her back to the actual nappies for overnight as she was leaking a small amount of wee most mornings with the nappy pants. So I agree I don't think they're quite as absorbent as nappies.

I have tried size 4 but their too big for him. There is gaps around his legs and you can just see that they are too big at the moment. I will try with a normal nappies tonight and see if that helps.

I think it is the pull ups that you are struggling with. They are designed for an upright child and don't have a particularly tight seal around the waist. So pee will leak out. They are also really intended for potty training use, so to catch accidents rather than all night pee.

Size 4 will work. Don't worry about the charts!

I used washable nappies with all mine for at least the first year and they generally worked well with a booster pad for overnight.

Go back to Velcro nappies, nappy pants are crap overnight, they’re not tight enough at the top. Definitely change brand, Pampers are notoriously bad for older babies.

Best nappies I’ve found are Aldi, Ocado own brand and Sainsbury’s own.

Pull ups are hopeless for babies for night time IME and generally not so good for non walking babies in the daytime either

Weirdly DS is better in nappy pants overnight than velcro nappies but he's in PJs (he's 2) and the wriggling makes a velcro nappy sit wrong and then his belly pushes it down further

@Harrysmummy246 I have the same problem, I tried him in Velcro nappy the other night and the nappy actually came undone during the night and it was more mess than with the pull ups.

I have bought another brand of nappies today so will try them tonight. Hopefully they will be better

Use a bit of gaffer tape to keep the tabs down

Have a look at 3+ nappies as well, the plus means they are more absorbent (I think they do a plus in a 3, if not I am sorry)

I've found tesco nappies best for night time, I still change ds 15 months at about 10pm or he can be wet in the morning though, he pees a lot! Lidl nappies proved rubbish and I never buy Pampers as cheaper nappies have worked better. I've found nappies rather than pull ups better at night as well .

Size 4 isn't the same in all brands though. That's why I specifically said about what happened to us - pampers size 3 was too small, but Pampers size 4 too big. So we used Superdrug and Boots size 4s as they are smaller than Pampers size 4 and they fit much better. You may need a size 4 but in a brand where the size 4 starts from a smaller size.
