Will not settle in snuzpod

I have a 5 week old DD who will only sleep on me or my partner and will not sleep in her snuzpod.
I know it's still very early days but I need a couple of hours sleep. Any suggestions to help her settle in her cot would be welcomed.

We got a Moses basket for a few months. There are loads of them in charity shops so just need to get a new mattress.

My ds was small and just found the snuzpod pod too big. He settled in well at about 4 months and stayed in it until he went into a big cot at 12 months.

Other option is maybe to get a sleepy head as that makes them feel a bit more cocooned? Although a more expensive option than a Moses basket.

I put a sleepyhead inside the Snuzpod. Both of mine have loved the sleepyhead

I have heard lots of mixed reports on sleepyheads - do they work?

Worked for mine and really really useful for travelling. Just plonk it on a bed/floor and baby will sleep comfy wherever.

is the cot too cold?
we put a towel under the sheet in the cot and we put a hot water bottle in to warm up the sheet (took the bottle out before we put baby down)

Swaddling works well for some babies too.

Snuggly blanket inside snuzpod? My ds was fine in snuzpod but my dd only liked it with a cocoon a baby inside then she slept like a dream. They do advise against inserts though but I kept a close eye on her x

My son was the same, and a sleepyhead made no difference in our case. I ended up cosleeping as the alternative was falling asleep with him while I was sitting up which was horrendously dangerous. He just needed to be closer to me than even the snuzpod allowed and wanted to be on the same sleep surface, which is completely normal. Don’t rule out looking up safe cosleeping practices - it saved my sanity as I was getting no sleep at all

We used a poddle pod inside my ds cot so that he felt more snug- would highly recommend!

Greedytiger · 14/10/2019 21:14

Buy a sleepyhead.

I didn’t have one for DS and fought him with the Snuzpod for 6 months. He hated it, mattress was too hard and he was a terrible sleeper.

With DD I used a sleepyhead given to us by a friend and she is an amazing sleeper. May be a coincidence, but I’m not ditching it to find out any time soon!

I ended up cosleeping, have a look at laleche guidelines on doing it safely. I was in a similar situation you're in now, five weeks is killer!

SparkyBlue · 14/10/2019 21:24

Definitely try a sleepyhead. It's the best piece of baby equipment I got. I am just raging I didn't have one for my older DC. My DD is going to outgrow her one soon and I am definitely buying the bigger version. She seems to snuggle into it and it seems to relax her

I also have a 5 week old DD who will only sleep on me or DH. We have put her Sleepyhead in the Snuzpod for the past couple of the nights and it has worked for the most part, she is much more settled than just in the Snuzpod alone anyway.

VaselineHero · 16/10/2019 16:03

Our DD wouldn't sleep in her Snuzpod either and the Sleepyhead saved us too! Went down in it the first night - couldn't believe it. We've just removed it at 4 months and she is fine in the Snuzpod now.
