Jet lag

Has anybody ever had a child suffer with jet lag? We went to America and prior to that my daughter age 2 was going to bed absolutely fine at 7.45 and sleeping until 7-8am since being home I understand the jet lag but getting her to go to bed is horrendous I am having to sit on the landing until she she asleep, give it half hour and she's awake for 2-3 hours at a time. I don't let her out her room as I don't want her to think it's bedtime but she cry's and screams even with me there and eventually goes to sleep. This is completely out of character for her

How long has it been since you got back? Usually when travelling from the US to the U.K. you have to accept that they will go to bed a bit later initially and adjust over a few days. Last time we did it, we took the day flight so got to my parents at around 11pm UK time, which was only 6pm at home. Put 2YO DD to bed about midnight, got her up at 10am the following day and after about 3 days she was doing a more normal 8pm-8am. Repeated the gradual adjustment when we got home. Aim for a decent chunk of sleep that is overnight rather than back to the routine instantly. We’ve never had any problems (well she hasn’t, DH really struggles with jet lag!) and have done a lot of transatlantic travel.

We got back Thursday, I have stuck to routine as normal and put her to bed and expected and appreciated that she would be up the first few nights, but every night is a struggle she is crying, screaming, kicking like never before for a good 2-3 hours. If I knew this would be the repercussions I would not of gone that fair 😢 she always knows I'm there but I just feel like the worlds worst mum right now x
