6 months - sleep has gotten awful.

Hi,

My DD is 6 months old and all of a sudden her night sleep is absolutely horrendous. I mean I’m running on 3 hours of broken sleep every day. (Now I know that’s lucky compared to some!)...

She was an amazing sleeper, came home and always slept in her crib next to me and by 2.5/3 months she was sleeping all the way through to 8am!! But now I try and put her down at 7.30 and she wakes every 45mins- hour and then has a couple hours down and then back to 45-hour! Don’t know how much more I can take :’(

She naps well during the day.
Nap 9.30am - 11am
Nap 1pm - 2.30/3pm
And sometimes a small 30 min nap at around 4pm. I don’t let her nap past 5/5.15pm.

She then has a bath around 6.30/7pm and then bottle and bed at 7.30/8pm. I’ve tried quiet music, cuddles and have even left her to a little cry. (Crying out method isn’t for us, dont like it and she’s the sort of if you let her cry past the point she will not settle).

I don’t know what more I can do :’(. Suppose I’m on here for a bit of a moan really but any advise would be great. I know the whole ‘leap stages’ ‘growth days’ ‘teething’ ect but my god, I’m exhausted!!

Could be numerous things if shes teething unwell or too cold?try a hot water bottle in her bed to warm it-REMOVE before you put her in-May help?

How long has the bad sleep been going on for OP? My DS has been a reasonably good sleeper and at 6 months he was cutting his first tooth combined with a ‘leap’. The bad nights lasted for about a week and then the tooth broke through. Unfortunately his second one is now coming through and it’s disturbing him again. What is your little one doing when they wake? Are they crying or just wide awake?

I’ve taken her temperature and she’s normal range, plus she’s fine during the day, just the nights. I’ve put a blanket over her but she always kicks it off, she’s quite a warm baby but I’ll give it a go with hot water bottle before hand! :)

This teething for them must be awful. Poor chap! She hasn’t cut any teeth yet so if one comes through then I could blame it on that I suppose. She’s been like if for coming up 2 weeks :(. She either wakes and just talks to herself or there’s times where she would make a rumble and cry.

I’ve tried earlier bedtimes, later bedtimes and still the same. Rang HV (because before this, she started waking herself up crying but going back to sleep straight after!) and she said teething and to give her a little calpol before bed but I feel I can’t do this every night plus when I have it hasn’t really made a massive difference! Babies!!
