Advice for putting 2 to bed

Hi there, I’d like some advice If possible. My husband is away for the next few nights and I’d like to hear how others get two children to bed at the same time.
At the moment me and my husband will take one child each and do their bedtime. 2.5yr old will have a bath, book, milk and lie down and we lie next to her for a minute and then we can leave the room and she will fall off to sleep by herself. The 10 month old has a bath, milk and often falls asleep on me or my husband.
Just wondering how others do two. In the past I’ve tried going into my 2.5yr old room with the baby but she’s grabbing the book and fidgeting. Another times I’ve left the baby in the cot whilst I quickly but the 2.5yr to bed but that led to the baby crying. Any tips would be appreciated . Thanks

Could you bath them together. Settle baby with milk and she sleeps on you, lay her down and deal with older child?

I used to do all the night time routine with both my children at the same time (18 month gap) which was bath, story, milk, teeth and then put older one to bed and then dealt with baby. But I don't know how well that would work with your routine.

If all else failed I'd bring them both into bed with me. Dh worked evenings a lot x
