Emma Mattress and SIDS

We’ve decided to replace our bed before dc2 arrives. I did a bit of research, satisfied myself that an Emma mattress would be fine, but now that we’ve opened it is seems soft. Some info online to indicate that memory foam is not right for baby’s cots, but it’s actually a mixture of memory and normal foam. I’ve read concerns about fumes, though I’m 4 weeks away so can air it well if that would help.

I’m pretty sure I’ll want to co-sleep at times so need to feel satisfied the mattress is safe. There’s nothing definitive online, so I’m
keen to see if others have had the mattress and feel that it was or wasn’t safe.

I’m obviously don’t want to make a bad call, but I do have a bad back and need a mattress on the softer side and I know i sleep well on it as I’ve used one elsewhere. Plus it’s here and unrolled so only want to return it if that’s necessary.... thoughts appreciated, thanks.
