Hey, first time posting here so please forgive if this has been covered a million times before Smile

We have a newborn, 2 days old, back at home and she sleeps in a Next2Me at the side of the bed.

When I put her down to sleep I always do so on her back but almost immediately she rolls onto her side, I've put her on her back again but this doesn't last anymore than a minute.

The guidelines say they should sleep on their back but she doesn't seem to want to

Is this an issue or a fairly common thing? Just want to make sure she's sleeping in the safest way possible

My DS is 8wks and he’s been the same since day 1. I put him on his back and he always rolled on to his side. I just leave him on his side. He can’t roll on to his front so there’s no worry with him struggling with breathing x

Mine did that when she was that little. In the hospital the midwives didn't give a hoot and just said "Oh, she's a side sleeper", weren't worried at all. She stopped for a while – it's a newborn reflex roll rather than a "real" roll – and then started again. I just leave her to it, but never swaddled her because of it.

Thanks for the reassurance, midwife visited today and said it's not an issue.

Phew, being a new parent is an absolute joy but also a worry at times Smile
