At what age did your toddler drop the daytime nap?

DS is nearly 2. He usually has an afternoon nap around 1/2 ish. The occasional time he doesn't have a nap and is fine to power through until bedtime.
When do toddlers stop having a day time nap completely?

DS is 2.2 and there's the odd day where he's fine without a nap but he still very much needs an hour ish or he's a raging sobbing mess come bedtime and sleeps worse overnight.

I doubt we'll get naps much into next year as sometimes the length of time to get him to sleep is ridiculous but he really isn't ready yet

Mrsducky88 · 10/09/2019 12:25

We were down to every other day ish by 25 months. Now 27 months and she rarely naps unless had a mega busy morning and she will nap in the car for half an hour or so.

Sunshineonleith12 · 10/09/2019 12:26

At 2.5 years he's go 2 or 3 days without a daytime nap but woud still occasionally take one a few times a week. By 3 they had stopped.

Dc1 is 3 in a few weeks and still naps for a good 2 hours. When I wake him he often scowls and tries to burrow back into bed. Dc2 is 1 and is a pain in the bum and refuses naps even when he is tired.

22 months - just about killed me, very long days indeed!

funnyfeeling · 10/09/2019 12:29

20 months Hmm she's still not much of a fan of sleep 2.5 years later.

bobstersmum · 10/09/2019 12:30

Dd was 2 early May. She dropped her nap about a month or two later. I try to ensure she has a lie in till 8 now even if we are doing the school run otherwise she gets crabby in the afternoon. It makes putting her to bed so much easier as at bedtime she's totally ready to sleep, when she was napping she would take an hour to go to sleep at night. If we go on a long car ride she will still have a little nap though.

nespressowoo · 10/09/2019 12:30

Nearly 3 and he's dropped his nap a couple of months now.

Limpshade · 10/09/2019 12:41

2 years 7 months here, though there had been 2-3 months of late bedtimes/the odd nap refusal before I bit the bullet!

Defeated10 · 10/09/2019 12:41

Just over 3 and still naps. He does have 3 long days at nursery so I think it wares him out

shalalala · 11/09/2019 15:46

Just over 3. She sometimes wants a nap now but would be a nightmare at bedtime so we have some downtime instead.

Skyejuly · 12/09/2019 09:13

My daughter is nearly 3 and still likes a 2 hr nap but she does get up early x

riddles26 · 14/09/2019 14:58

Mine will turn 3 later this month and still naps unto 2 hours, usually 1.5hours. She definitely still needs it, gets extremely irritable from 3pm onwards if she hasn't had a sleep. She is usually in bed by 7.30pm and sleep by 8 in the evening and up by 7am.

I have no intention to drop it until it is really affecting her night sleep as I love the fact that she can stay up a little bit later if we want to go out in the evening - friends' toddlers who have dropped their nap at this age all go to sleep by 7pm. I also have a 1yr old who naps at the same time as her so I am home most days for nap time anyway, it isn't an inconvenience

HappyGirl86 · 14/09/2019 15:02

One. Yep, my daughter stopped napping when she turned one.

Starrynights86 · 14/09/2019 15:06

Mine is two and three months, still napping every day and if she doesn’t nap early afternoon, she’ll fall asleep at 4 anyway which makes bedtime a nightmare!

Dd1 - 18 months
Dd2 - 4
