18mo screaming.

My 18mo has never been a great sleeper. However, the last week or so he's woken at some point during the night and it's taken over an hour of him crying on one or other of us to get him back down. Could be molars - there's definitely something going on there. Could be regression - though I kind of assumed that there had to be some decent sleep to regress from.

Please reassure me that this is pretty normal and won't last long - we're struggling here.

Can you rule out molars with judicious drugs? My 18mo can't sleep without ibuprofen right now.

Wait mine is 20mo, it's been two bloody months of rotten sleep unless we remember to give her painkillers with supper. Then she's fine. Does yours respond to that sort of thing?

Also is he hungry? Ours had a phase like that, with huge crying at bollocks a.m. and a bit of bread and butter helped. Also making sure she had loads of Cheerios right before bed.

Thank you for the replies. Have dosed him up with ibuprofen and made sure he's had (hopefully) enough to eat. Also chucked on another layer, as it's getting quite chilly overnight. Fingers crossed...

How's it going? Being warm enough also sounds like a good idea...

Filled him up with supper - think we overdid it as he then vommed everywhere. Gaaah.

Then was too hot with the extra layer.

I'm so hoping this is 18mo regression, and he'll just snap out of it. He's never been a good sleeper, but this is awful. He used to go back to sleep quite easily - now it's taking an age.

The little sod! Vomming at bedtime indeed.

Hope things calm down.
