Toddler bedtime battle

It's taking up to 4 hours every night for my toddler to fall asleep. The impact it's having on all of us is huge and it can't carry on. I'm beginning to lose the plot. I feel like we've tried every trick in the book but nothing is working.

Does anyone have any tips on how to get him to stay in his bed and go to sleep on his own?

Hiya, you should watch super Nanny! Jo Frost's tips works a treat. I've just had my first stubborn toddler after 2 months doing it her way... I always tell him what the plans is and what I expect before getting ready for bed... and I stick to it.. I always do reading with him and his sister... while they have a glass of warm milk... once that's done it's wee wee and teeth brushing them bed... little prayer and kisses saying "it's bed time now" then walk away. I tend to leave a light on cos my younger one gets a bit scared. If they come out, I take them back to bed while saying gently, it's bed time now and kisses again... if they come out again don't talk to them or engage in convo.. and put them to bed and walk away.... could take two times or even 10 but if you stick to it.. it will get better.
And that's a promise- I'm typing this out after having to put him in his bed the second time and he's not come out since! I've just heard a yawn so that's a sign of him falling in 4 seconds :)
