Gro-clock to beat the 5am start!

Hi. My 25MO DS was a horrific sleeper for the first 20 months or so if his life. Now we have it much easier minus the 5-5:30 starts. It’s just such a long day for everyone.

We’ve shortened his one nap to max 1hr 15 and that’s late morning. Any success stories of introducing a gro-clock at this age and getting a “lie in” until 6/6:30?

Thanks in advance.

I would move his nap time to afternoon rather than morning. What time is he going down in the evening? Also what time would you set his grow clock for the sun to come up?

Yes! It was a bloody miracle!

At 2 1/2 DS2 was still torturing us all with night wakenings and attempted 4am starts. He almost broke us.

“Mr Sunshine” came along and he was a great success.

We started with 5am, then 5.10, 5.20 etc till we got to 6.30. Luckily for DS quickly understood the “rules” and went with it. I had a few whispered “Mr Sunshine isn’t up yet, go back to sleep” type conversations to begin with, but it didn’t take long.

We still use it and he’s 7. If we don’t have it with us everything goes to shit, so Mr S comes on all our holidays!

I don’t know if we were just lucky though and I was very sceptical, but I am so glad I gave it a go. You reach the point where you’ll try anything and this worked for us!

Yes we have Mr Sunshine here too! As WanderingAimlessly said it took a few weeks of very, very gradual changes to the waking time but we have now got it to 6.25am and are happy with that.
We started when DS was 2.5 and had a sticker chart and lots of cheering if he stayed in bed until Mr Sunshine came up. DS is now 3.5 and the GroClock comes everywhere with us as without it he does have a tendancy to get up at 5.30am which is pretty hideous! Good luck!
