Hi Everyone,

I'm new on here.....just got a question and hoping for some advice....my LO is 10months old and is currently being feed to sleep. Myself and my partner have tried to break this association but it just left us all exhausted. Does anyone have any gentle ideas/suggestions as to how we can get our LO to sleep without me breastfeeding? thanks in advance

Maybe swap to a dummy/soother, when the little one starts to drift off?

Hi there, my baby is 9 months & we had the exact same problem! I remember people saying 'you are making a rod for your own back there', 'you'll never get her to sleep through whilst she's doing that' etc!

Then randomly last month, she just stopped falling asleep after her feed and would get quite giddy if we stayed with her - so we just put her in her cot & she just went to sleep after playing and chewing her foot for half an hour! She's done this ever since and we did absolutely nothing to assist it!

I can't tell you how much stress we put ourselves through to get her to stop 'feeding to sleep' and it was all for nothing! I know all children are different, but she may just decide to stop doing it herself soon!

Good luck!! X

You are so welcome! Honestly, those early days I was so sleep deprived and just desperate for things to get better & at 9 months now, she naps twice a day for two hours and has just started sleeping through the night. If I have another baby I will definitely go with the flow more and worry less about trying to do everything by the book! If feeding to sleep makes things easier, I would just carry on doing it. My LO still has her bottle right before being put down now. I think if you have a good routine - bath, sleep, bed & regular nap times, everything else will just fall into place eventually! Best of luck ❤️
