Help! 5 week old baby

Lindz2781 · 30/08/2019 20:34

My 5 week old baby fights naps throughout the day to the point where he constantly cries as he gets so overtired.
Nighttime’s don’t seem too bad, usually falls asleep and wakes 4 hourly for feeds.
Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get him to have the naps that he obviously needs.
Thanks

Try all the different places to sleep and see which he prefers. Is he happier in the pushchair, swing, cot?

Also try putting him down much earlier. I found mine went back to sleep 90 minutes after the got up in the morning. Sometimes when they are overtired they can't sleep.

It's just trial and error until you find what works. It's early days too. Try and get someone to hold him for an hour or two so you can get a bit of sleep.Flowers

@Lindz2781 I couldn't have written this post when my DD was that age... she's now 12 months and naps have got a lot easier.

Before it was 30 mins only..4 times a day!

I tried everything but she was happy to do that! After I stopped stressing over naps - she fell into a nice roofer a whole of 90mins in the morning then 30/45 mins in the afternoon and bedtime around 7pm to 7am.

It does get easier! Trust me - it feels never ending on those early days and you don't have time to yourself in the day. If she sleeps well at night like my DD it will be fine.

Hang in there! X
