15mo old cries for every nap

LO has always cried when we put him down for naps, i assumed it would die down as by now he is very used to spending naps in his cot. On good days he'll moan for 5 mins then go down, others he will scream for 30+. Seems to be getting worse if anything. He's down to 1 nap a day so when he's down its usually a nice long one. I find the crying heartbreaking and dont know how to improve it. We did some 'sleep training' at about 5/6 months as he wouldn't sleep without being rocked or fed (15mo now). Our naptime routine is to read a book or two in his room, close the curtains then a quick lullaby and down. He would get frustrated with me rubbing his back if I'm not picking him up. Any ideas? Do i need a longer prenap routine?? Any advice very much appreciated.

Can't offer much advice as DS tries to avoid naps whenever possible but I look for his cues before he tells me he's tired, so rubbing eyes etc. Maybe try doing his routine before he tells you he's tired.

Is he getting overtired or over stimulated?

Mines is 9months and will chitter to herself before going over but will usually nap fine in day. (Not always)

Sometimes if weve had music and books and games when shes starting to show cues of being tired, it can take her longer to get over.

Is there a chance he either is having too much fun and doesn't need to sleep or hes overstimulated?
