Help? Any 3.5tog sleep bags that are safe/from reputable online or in store

Hi,
Our flat is extremely cold (mixture of crap heating setup and being on corner near shire front , v windy).
My baby turns six months in October so we'll need to buy 6m+ sleeping bags.
He's in 2.5tog ones overnight at the moment (just in nappy).

Partner has found 3.5 fig bags online but some of them aren't safe! E.g. sewn on arms which i believe is not UK safety compliant? (Sids risk = baby torso needs circulation hence why bag arms are supposed to be removed overnight)

I just bought our 2.5 tog ones from Asda but no shop seems to sell the 3.5tog ones in a reputable UK shop (I've tried independent baby shop, Mothercare, Asda, Tesco, Matalan).

Can anyone advise where I can buy a 3.5tog 6month old sleep bag? Best in shops but would consider reputable online sellers if trustworthy.

The only place I've found online is Grobag but they're seriously expensive and very very limited designs in 3.5 tog.

Thank you.

Surely you can just layer underneath? So a vest and babygro? Or falling that I would go for the gro bag ones as no one will see them when they are asleep.
Tk maxx are good for cheap gro bags, I bought 2 the other day for about £15 rather than £30

dementedpixie · 22/08/2019 13:51

www.slumbersac.co.uk/baby-sleeping-bags/?size=8&tog=25 I have bought from here before

Expressedways · 22/08/2019 13:52

We had 3.5 tog ones from JoJo Maman Bebe. They did come with sleeves but they’re detachable so we just removed them.

Baboutheocelot · 22/08/2019 13:54

We were given a very thick slumber sack but it was never cold enough for us to use it. Next and H&M make fleecy sleepsuits, those with a long sleeved vest could be an option?

DungeonDweller · 22/08/2019 13:54

Ooh I haven't tried tk maxx, thanks , I will look the next time I'm near one!!

I know we could just layer up but a better bag would be better. I'll pay the extortionate Grobag full cost for the boring design if we don't have one or two by October. Our baby room fell to 9 degrees last year (window is fucked in that room so unless the duct tape idea raises the temp a bit, bubs needs to be well layered at all times).

Midwife kept her coat on when visiting, I did warn her! So just trying to prep.

The Gro Company do 3.5 tog ones we've got a lovely one.

Not cheap though!

notanothercrapusername · 22/08/2019 13:56

Oh sorry, only skim read the OP! Confused Our GC one is on my second child now, and still looks brand new so worth the cost IMO.

shookennotstirred · 22/08/2019 13:56

H&M do 3 tog ones that are lovely and cosy

Katnisnevergreen · 22/08/2019 13:57

gro.co.uk/download/grobag-wear-guide/
This is quite useful to see what is needed for what temperature

Hiphopopotamous · 22/08/2019 14:05

I've bought grobags on ebay cheaply and just thoroughly washed them - have a look before you spend £££ on new

SheDancesOnTheSand · 22/08/2019 14:13

It's worth paying out for the gro branded bags as they are the only ones that are recommended by the lullaby trust for accurate tog rating.

Barbarafromblackpool · 22/08/2019 14:21

Gro. I’ve also found them cheaper in TKMaxx.

NerrSnerr · 22/08/2019 14:39

Have you looked on EBay for Grobags?

user1480880826 · 22/08/2019 14:43

Grobag are very good quality so probably worth the cost.

Also, look on the gro company website as they have a useful chart that shows what a baby should be wearing and what tog sleeping bag they should be in based on the room temperature.

If it’s cold they should definitely be wearing more than a nappy.

MyCatDrinksFlatWhites · 22/08/2019 14:47

We got a 3.5 tog bag from Vertbaudet with detachable arms a couple of years ago. I don't think anywhere has a wide choice of designs in 3.5 tog but Vertbaudet is worth a look.

Rodent01 · 22/08/2019 14:52

I’ve used Slumbersac ones for both my DDs and they’ve been fine. 3.5 tog with sleeves, we also live in a cold house - end of terrace and their rooms are on the outside wall.

I do have them to sell if you want to pm me, youngest will be into the 18-36 month ones, it’s not prime selling time for them so I’ve been waiting till autumn. Pm me if you do - I’m genuine, not a loony, I could eBay list and send you the link so we do through PayPal if you want!!!

OneForTheRoadThen · 22/08/2019 14:56

Mothercare often have the grobags at half price - that's where we got ours. Worth a try?

DungeonDweller · 22/08/2019 15:03

Ok so there are a few more options than I'd realised, I will relook at some on the shortlist as I've now spotted some are the detachable arms but I'd not realised.

I'll look out for sales & the other brands . I think second hand gro ones would be better though due to the tog rating stuff mentioned.

(Also, bubs is in a nappy+ bag in heatwave... Not planning that for when it's cooler, poor mite would freeze! Appreciate the warning tho)

Thanks, all. Really glad I checked here for more inspiration!

Sorry, meant I have the 6-18 to sell as DD2 will be in the 18-36 this winter.

burritofan · 22/08/2019 18:27

Jojo Maman Bebe does a 3.5 RPG that's actually a 2.5 and a 1 layered together, so you have 3 different tog options so it lasts for aaaaaages. We've got the 6-18m one, I assume DD is going to look like the worm from Dune when we first put her in it.

Celebelly · 23/08/2019 06:19

We have the JoJo 3 in 1 bag (and it's space themed, woo!). Have only used the lighter one so far but it's good quality and fits my 6mo fine around the neck and shoulders.

Celebelly · 23/08/2019 06:19

She does look quite funny with the massive body though!

Heyha · 23/08/2019 21:46

I've just found this thread as I googled 3.5tog sleeping bag...because I was trying to work out whenever I'd ever want the one I've got 😂

JoJo Maman have a sleeping bag on offer at the moment that is a 2.5 tog and a 1 tog that you can zio together, for £22. I don't think I'll need to zip together but will use both individually so it was a good purchase.

Not sure what the stock levels were like but be worth a look, OP
