3 month old bedtimes

Our three month old is generally a very good night sleeper. We get about 6 hours straight each night, feed then back to sleep. But at the moment she is going to bed when we do at about 10pm. What do most people do about bedtimes at this age. Should we be putting her up earlier? Daytime naps are v hit and miss at the moment. Is she still too little (only 12weeks) for a routine?

When my DS was 3 months I was feeling the same as you, that he should be in a routine and it felt like all other babies were going to bed at 7pm! but he went up to bed with us at about 10pm. What you’re doing sounds fine, and if it’s working for you and you’re getting good stretches of sleep then keep doing what you’re already doing I say! My DS is 5 months now, and from 4 months I did start to bring him to bed gradually earlier because I noticed that he was getting tired earlier than he used to. It went to 9pm, then 8:30pm, and now he’s asleep by 8pm. This just happened naturally for us, you might find the same happens as she gets older.

You'll find as the months go on and developmentally they can distinguish between day and night bedtime will start naturally coming forward without you doing anything. If you try and force it you'll probably mess up those beautiful 6 hours you are so lucky to get!

Enjoy it while it lasts, go out and do grown up things while you can like going out for dinner and pubs as once it's 7pm every night you can't do that anymore. I wish I'd utilised the late bedtimes more!

Thanks for the reassurance! I’m kind of more a go with the flow type, but was worried I might be creating bad habits
