My 5 month old has never slept longer than 2 hours through the night, he sometimes fall asleep at a reasonable time after a feed around 7-8pm but treats this as a nap and is awake again 20-30 minutes later thinking its play time. I cant get him back to sleep until around 11pm. I am desperate for a bit of a ‘normal routine’ even when he goes to bed at 11 he doesn't sleep through either. I have yet to find any one else who’s baby is like this so I am wondering what we are doing wrong?

Mine is 5.5 months and currently waking every 1 hr 10 mins through the night. I assume this is the length of her sleep cycle. I have to bf her back to sleep after every wake. I'm losing my mind! So no tips from me but know you are not alone!

What do you do when he wakes? Babies do come into a light sleep but you need to teach them to go back to sleep on their own . Try to put him down sleepy but awake in the evening then he will learn to self sleep.

Don’t immediately go them when they wake . Allow 10 mins or so to self sooth. If you go in they will need you every time they wake in the night.

Yep mine was like this, except he'd go down ok at bedtime and playtime would be around 1am for about 2 hours! It's a phase OP and it WILL pass. I'd recommend keeping things quiet/boring/minimal fuss. I'm not one to leave DS to cry so was happy to bring him into my bed to soothe him. He stopped the night-time play times at around 6.5mo and began to sleep through at around 12mo.

I usually go in and try and settle him. He wont settle until I pick him though. Last night we left him in and he was screaming on off for 3 and half hours before falling asleep
