3 year trouble falling asleep - needs my hair to twirl!

My 3 year old has gotten worse with the needing her mammas hair to get to sleep. It can take her upto an hour of twirling my hair to get to sleep and if I try and take it away she cries and won't stop. Any advice? Feel that she is too old now for sleep training and have made this rod for my back.

No advice but also struggling to get my LO to sleep bless him, you have my sympathies!

Could you get a doll with hair to twirl? Or cut of a lock of your hair and tie it up in a ribbon? You might need to go cold turkey though like we did with the dummy and just have a rough few nights. Do you have a night light that plays a tune that you could use as a timer and say 'mummy is leaving when the song finishes'

personally at 2 years old I would leave her to cry. she will tire herself out eventually and will be harder on you than her.

I remember my mum having trouble with my sister at this age ( I was about 6 at the time ) but I remember mum sitting with her back to my sister's bedroom door with my sister kicking and screaming on the other side of it.

sounds horrible but after a week of it, my sister suddenly started settling herself to sleep.
