Potty training and night waking?

My DS has recently started potty training he is 2 years 2 months. He has been fab he was ready, took to it straight away and was dry (during the day) within 2 days. He asks me when he needs to go if we are out he will make sure he asks me and hasn't had any accidents.
So I assumed the night time but would come a lot later, he has a nappy on for bed only and he understands this he does one last wee before bed (7pm) and then goes to bed.
He has always been a fab sleeper, but since potty training he has started to wake in the night once and says 'Mummy I need a wee' so I get him out and he does one and goes right back off to sleep again.
My question is does potty training affect toddlers sleep? And is the waking his body just starting to eat the feeling of needing a wee even when he is asleep?
He does like a drink of water before bed and asks for a drink sometimes recently in this weather in bed but I feel I can't not give him any as he must be thirsty?
Thank you ☺️
