My little boy is 3 in Nov and the issue I have is with getting him to sleep at bedtime. He used to be a pain at napping in the day but this is now sorted and he naps well in his cot. He sleeps well through the night mostly but at bedtime it often takes an hr and a half to get him to sleep. We have a good routine and he goes in the cot fine. Quiet for 5 mins or so then throws everything out of his cot, stands up and cries for me. The difficult thing is I also have a 7 yr old daughter so I can't spend all evening sitting with my son. We do alternate sitting with him but as soon as we leave he cries again...I am considering being tough and leaving him to cry and just going in every 10 mins or so but then worry if he cries for hrs he will be up early due to being overtired. Its a vicious circle! I am after advice from anyone who has tried the method where you go in after 2 mins, then 5, then 10 etc and if I am consistent and tough is this likely to work? Any advice appreciated

My son is three in September and we found we had to shorten and finally bin off the nap a couple of months ago. He would sleep for an hour in the afternoon and then not want to go to bed until ten at night. Now he’s in the bath at half seven and sleeping for eight and generally wakes 7:30-8:00 next day. He’s also still in his cot, albeit with the side off, but will be coming out soon when we get him a bed. We were never able to leave him to cry because he got hysterical and took in so much air, he’d be sick. He does sometimes flag a bit in the afternoon but he has some quiet time with juice and the tv which recharges his batteries til bedtime. I miss my hour of peace but it’s so much better at nighttime!
