Morning Bags and sorry for your night.

Ours was a bit better, woke at 11, 2, 5.30 then dozing from 6.30-7.

I was at home for two months before LO was born... didn't make him any more laid-back, though!

Amberjee · 19/08/2007 09:16

i had a very chilled out pregnancy, just worked 2 days a week, loads of afternoon anps baby still crazy though

we had a great night. i went to a movie and then as i was going to bed at 11, snuck into LOs room to have a peek, and the door creaked,he woke up so i fed him, then he slept until 5, feed, then 7. as dh was getting his clothes ready for the day, LO went quiet and looked in, he was back asleep until 8!!

MegBusset · 19/08/2007 09:22

Amber, that sounds great. at movie -- what did you see?

Ah, I remember those afternoon naps... what bliss!

Tamdin · 19/08/2007 10:12

morning meg and amber.

meg for your bad night. hope you get some rest today.

amber for your good night. also of your cinema excursion

Our night was good...
Ds went to bed at 7
I went to bed at 10(what happened to getting home when it's getting light!)and woke him by accident so brought him in beside me.
woke at 4am (4oz milk)
woke at 8 for the day

amber i also had easy pregnancy(that should prob read lazy in my case!). Was working for a friend P/T until 16 weeks then moved back to ireland and didn't work again!
I was the queen of afternoon naps

OP posts:
Amberjee · 19/08/2007 11:40

yay tam, good night. i lurrved those afternoon naps during pregnancy. actually on the days i did work, i finished at 3pm so could still fit in a nap if i needed it!
i saw the simpsons movie. was trying to chose between that and the bourne conspiracy, decided to go lighthearted.

Tamdin · 19/08/2007 14:24

quiet today. hope you're all getting some zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz's.
Dh has gone to loughborough today for 3 days for work. he left with a face. staying in one of those awful conference/ travel lodge type hotels beside the motorway.
rather him than me!

I'm taking the easy option and going to stay with M&D for 2 nights so won't be around until tues. hope I return to find you've all left me because your lo's are sleeping through the night!

OP posts:
MegBusset · 19/08/2007 15:57

I'm not going to be around much for the next few days either as we're getting ready to move on Weds... been madly packing today (not easy with a LO to entertain too!), just sitting down for a quick cuppa now then cracking on with it... internet access may be sporadic but I'll be back next week from the new house!

Take care all and hope you have sleepy nights x

ImBarryScott · 19/08/2007 16:03

Blimey, it'll be quiet here for a few days!

Well, I shall keep posting nonetheless, as I think I need the therapeutic benefits.

Meg, hope the move goes smoothly.

Amberjee · 19/08/2007 16:55

IBS, yes please keep me company!!

mummymagic · 19/08/2007 17:42

I'll be here! Dd has her second night in bed tonight (we stayed at a friend's yesterday)...

She is having a late nap now (in her new bed, self settled again) so we won't be putting her to bed until late. Fingers crossed she sleeps happily all night!!

choolie · 19/08/2007 18:19

good luck with the move Meg!
bedtime feed calls...

Amberjee · 19/08/2007 21:01

MEg, have a good move.

hope tonight goes smoothly MM>

mummymagic · 19/08/2007 21:44

Good luck with your move Meg - enjoy the lack of pressure over sleep for a while (well, DS can't possibly be expected to sleep well with all the upheaval )

dd went to bed at 9pm. Tucked her in and said night like she was a little girl! She did call me back for a lovely cuddle and as I was cuddling her I told her I would be going downstairs in a minute and to cuddle bear. Then I tried to leave and she gripped my neck so I told her LAST CUDDLE and she cuddled me and let go. Then I gave her bear and said night night - hurrah!!!!!!!!!!!!!! she is so much happier and more confident going to sleep it seems. Will update in morning.

(PS I highly recommend teaching 'last one' to your dc, you have to be consistent but its a great tantrum-preventer - and helpful when you have sung Incy Wincy Spider 20 times...)

ImBarryScott · 20/08/2007 08:27

morning to the elite, hand-picked few who are left .

mummymagic - hope all is well for dd in new bed. thanks for top tip re "last one" .

amber of your night out. I'm hoping my sister will babysit for us on Sat. She mentioned it a while back, so fingers crossed she's not forgotten.

choolie - hope all went smoothly for you.

another crap night. good stretch 7-12, then no decent stretches. tried hard to keep dd in her room, but got sick of getting out of bed, so she came into the bedside cot later. no idea of the times, as my clock broke! so we're out today - i am going to raid my savings for long-coveted DAB clock radio (am obsessed with 6music).

Tamdin · 20/08/2007 08:32

I'm back! decided not to stay at my parent's in the end. Had a nice afternoon and dinner but ds was looking a bit unwell and M&D looked tired after 2 nights out in a row (better social life than me)so i thought it best for everyone if we came home.

Crpa night for us
ds went to bed at 8
woke at 10.30 and then didn't go back to sleep until 2!
woke at 7 for the day.

2-7 was pretty solid so don't feel completely exhausted but could have done without the 3.5 awake session in the middle

OP posts:
Amberjee · 20/08/2007 08:49

what is a DAB clock radio, i need a new digital clock for bedroom, the one i currently use is from india, and hte display is really hard to read (good for fooling yourself about nightwakings i suppose!)
MM - sounds very promising!
tam - nice to see you back , sorry it didn't work out at your parents and that ds is sick.
we had an ok night. well the stretch to 11pm was terrible, kept on waking up all the time (think it's because his naps were so bad yesterday). but then when he fed at 11,he slept until 5, refused food, stayed awake until 6 (bit annoying), but then slept until 7.30. so a bit unsettled, but a good long stretchin the middle which was great.

ImBarryScott · 20/08/2007 08:52

Morning Tam - LOL at your parents. My inlaws definitely have a better social life than me - we can never catch them in!

Sorry to hear about your night, but glad you don't feel too ruined. Where on earth do these LOs get their energy from?

ImBarryScott · 20/08/2007 08:55

x post Amber - what an odd night. Glad you got one reasonable stretch though

voila le DAB clock radio - same as the others but can receive digital radio.

Tamdin · 20/08/2007 09:10

amber glad you got a good stretch at least.

IBS don't blame you for not wanting to get up and down all night how do you think ds ened up in our room until he's 19months

Havig an SDD day
think it's because i'm tired, DH away and ds being a total whinge this morning

Also get sucked in to other sleep threads on occasion and read about other people's problems with lo's and feel i'm making a total hash of it. wish i could do cc i really do but I just cannot. Also noticed it says on dr sears website that it doesn't always work for all children esp 'persistent' babies and if ds is anything it's persistent!

OP posts:
Amberjee · 20/08/2007 09:39

LO just started 'babbling' on the weeeknd. it is sooooo cute!

MegBusset · 20/08/2007 10:36

Morning, not much time but just wanted to give Tam a virtual hug, you shouldn't feel bad about not doing cc! Sure I never could either. tbh I think whether babies sleep is mainly down to luck and temperament, regardless of what we do!

We had an awful night too. Awake from 3 til 4.30 (seems to be a bit of a habit, this ) plus many other wakings. me and DH both totally shattered, and he has to go finish painting the new house today. Plus LO only had 30-minute morning nap. So much sympathy for all the crap nights...

Amberjee · 20/08/2007 10:44

tam, you're such a lovely mummy - no need to have any doubts love. don't worry about not doing cc, it will all come right in the end xxx

Tamdin · 20/08/2007 11:02

thanks amber and meg for my virtual hugs. means alot x

OP posts:
Tamdin · 20/08/2007 11:05

meg for your crappolla night too. sympathise with stress of moving and we haven't even moved yet.
Had the site manager from our house ring this morning to say they'd lost the front door key and could he come collect the spare (it was 8am!). Is it too much to ask a building site of grown men to be able to keep a key safe!

OP posts:
mummymagic · 20/08/2007 12:10

Tamdin, I really believe that my daughter is sleeping better (although she still woke a few times) in her bed and its because she enjoys going to sleep. I can't see how CC is teaching them anything positive long term. Ok, so maybe you choose not to go to and they sleep eventually in their cot (although mine just gets more awake the longer she cries) but what when they can get out???

We must remember its an investment, they are our children. You are not doing anything wrong by being loving and responsive. We just have weird ideas on how children should behave here (left over from Victorian times).

Whats wrong with making sleeping pleasant (by co-sleeping/being there/not crying it out) then kids learn if i am tired i will go to sleep. My dd loves her naps and loves to go to bed - but it takes time for children to become more independent. 19mths isn't very old really.
