Can't believe we're onto another new thread already!

OP posts:
Amberjee · 15/08/2007 18:38

HA HA HA HA HA

EP, i never thought we'd see any of our LO's doing that falling asleep in the highchair business. are you sure your dh is not making it up!?

have a nice time, and don't worry, all our LO's will be sleeping through the night and this thread will be empty when you get back

EffiePerine · 15/08/2007 18:43

Photographic evidence on its way...

Tamdin · 15/08/2007 18:59

awaiting ep's photographic evidence................

ImBarryScott · 15/08/2007 19:15

Oh EP, that's adorable!

Never thought I'd see a SIFTW baby in such a pose.

Hope the old routine doesn't suffer too much while you're away - have a lovely timw with your folks .

MegBusset · 15/08/2007 19:46

Aww....

While we're on the subject, can anyone recommend a good (pref. adjustable) highchair? Wanted to get the Tchibo one as recommended by Guardian Family section but they have stopped stocking it . Want something with a tray for BLW-type shenanigans...

MegBusset · 15/08/2007 19:47

Oh and good luck with the packing, EP... haven't started ours yet, think that's a job for the weekend!

Amberjee · 15/08/2007 20:52

we've got the chicco polly, i think it's excellent but perhaps a bit bulky if you're space challenged.

EffiePerine · 15/08/2007 22:10

25 boxes of books and counting... and we don't have to clear out the whole flat [whock]

EffiePerine · 15/08/2007 22:10

not sure what a whock is but I may have packed it by mistake

ImBarryScott · 16/08/2007 08:40

Morning all,

EP - have a good journey if you've not already gone. hope you've packed plenty of whocks for the trip .

Meg - we bought a high chair this week. Got this one
We wanted a wooden one as we have a big open plan room, rather than separate sitting room and kitchen, and I didn't want to be looking at any more children's plastic stuff than I already do . By the time I'd found a wooden one, with a try, that folded, we had a choice of one!

Reasonable night here. DD slept 7-3 , but that was the last long stretch - had to go into her at least hourly thereafter. I really do think we all sleep better in our own rooms (family of light sleepers), but it's soooo hard to drag myself out of bed so often.

hoping to hear of good nights!

Amberjee · 16/08/2007 08:52

IBS, glad you had a decent night.

We had a HORRIBLE one! ds awake from 3.30am to 8.40am - has just gone for a nap. it better blardy be a long one. i don't know what he was up to. just wanted to play. would get upset if we left him, but super super happy if we were around. i just unrolled the futon on the floor and let him climb all over me/pull my hair/practice crawling etc for hours.

MegBusset · 16/08/2007 09:00

Amber what a little monkey! Hope you can rest today. Don't know how you feel about this but we have an emergency stash of Calpol, if he's awake more than an hour we give him a dose , I know it's a painkiller not a sedative but it usually helps him to settle down.

Bags 7-3 is a brilliant stretch, though those hourly wakings are a pita.

Our night was slightly better than the one before -- still with the 2-hourly wakings for boob, and still wide awake at 3am but managed to settle him back reasonably quickly and at least at 7.20 it wasn't too early a morning.

Amberjee · 16/08/2007 09:06

maybe i should have tried the calpol - he just didn't seem in pain at all though. i wonder if he was excited about crawling soon. god knows what goes on in his head. he was actually being incredibly cute if it wasn't silly o clock in the morning. yesterday he only had 2 naps though, wonder if that had anything to do with it. it's so backward though. why get up at 3.30??
we're going swimming today if he's not too cranky, so prob won't rest. i've been at home doing nothing the last three days, and so was really looking forward to swimming and catching up with friends, sigh. stupid timing.

MegBusset · 16/08/2007 09:09

I would guess it may be developmental. LO has become a complete wriggle monster lately, won't sit in Bumbo or on your lap for long before getting frustrated, just wants to kick and roll and grab everything in sight. I'm sure this adds to night-time fidgets!

Tamdin · 16/08/2007 09:12

morning meg amber and ibs amberthat's a shocker of a night really hope you get some sleep today.

IBS like your highchair. we went for the baby dan wooden one for the same reason (open plan living)but it doesn't have a tray so would be no use for blw.

meg glad your night was better. 7.20 is much more respectable time to get up!

Our night was mixed. ds went to bed at 7.30 but then just as he was dozing off he sat up in his cot and was sick everywhere!
spent next half hour cleaning up and then had to start from scratch with settling him.

he woke at 11.30 because he was so hungry after being sick so i made an exception to the rule and let him have his bottle early.

He drank 3 oz and tehn went to sleep until 6.30

11.30-6.30 is a pretty good stretch so feel fine today and am pleased he lasted 7 hours with no milk

OP posts:
Tamdin · 16/08/2007 09:14

sorry x posted amber. re plans to go swimming but in a way you might feel better than if you went back to bed

OP posts:
Amberjee · 16/08/2007 09:19

i think i do need to get out today.
LO is awake grizzling in cot. i so hope he goes back to sleep or he'll be too cranky for swimming. why can't he sleep??

ImBarryScott · 16/08/2007 09:24

Morning Amber, Meg and Tam,

Amber - ouch! you must feel like you've done a day's work already. I agree that it's good to get some fresh air and vit D when you're knackered.

Tam for upchuck incident, but 11.30-6.30's a decent stretch.

Meg - glad you weren't up for the day quite so early today. DD is very wriggley and frustrated too. The only thing that saves my sanity is twice daily walks in the buggy - she's generally a bit happier there and I can stick my ipod on if the grizzling grates!

tibsy · 16/08/2007 09:59

morning!!
ibs for your nihgt

amber, fro yours my love. hope you get loads of rest today

meg dd was a boobmonster last night too

tam for poor lo and his vomiting.

ginger - dd did cut down to 1 nap a day, but the last 2/3 days has decided to increase to 2 again

EP - safe journey, speak soon

our night - 3 wakings for boob feeling a bit tired, but not as bad as you must feel amber. sorry my lovely. i'd get out, makes it a little easier to cope with sometimes if youre not cooped indoors. well it does for me anyway. we're off to junglew mania, sort of a baby gym!!!
gotta go, dd mardy and must finish getting ready.
she just wants to climb stairs atm, which is a real pita

gingerninja · 16/08/2007 10:00

Amber that must have been a killer.

My DD kept sitting up last night. Shes just learned to sit up from laying down so everytime she woke she would sit herself up. It was quite funny actually because she looked totaly confused about it all. Not a bad night tho but wouldn't really settle after 4.

Back at work next week ladies so won't be able to post as regularly.

MegBusset · 16/08/2007 10:14

Baz, unfortunately DS is just as wriggly in the stroller (and scratches himself against the straps) so it's not really practical to take him out in it, he's fine in the baby carrier but not sure how long I'll be able to lug him about without serious back injury!

Ginger we'll miss you!

Amberjee · 16/08/2007 15:00

ginger will miss you, hope the transition to work goes smoothly. Meg, can you invest in a good carrier for carrying older babies. i know loads of people carryiingn their 12-18 month babies, just have good carriers. i've got the ergo which is good, but i reckon some of the material carriers are even better.

gingerninja · 16/08/2007 15:12

Meg, I've got an Ergo and carry (11.5month)DD everywhere in it. I've also got an ellaroo wrap which is just as comfy, actually probably more so but is more of a faff to put on. I'm a titch and quite small build too and it doesn't cause me too many problems unless I've done some mega hike. She hates being in the buggy so I tend to try and get away with it as long as poss then plonk her in the carrier. She loves being on my back and we interact better too. I'd definately recommend them.

DD is being very difficult to put down at the moment thanks to her new developmental stage. The minute you lay her down she rolls over then sits up. This is hillarious apparently. It took me about 40 mins to settle her at lunch time by which point my patience was wearing thin. Lets hope the novelty wears off soon!

choolie · 16/08/2007 15:40

oh ginger, i'm sorry, but i just had to laugh at your description of DD rolling over and sitting up! i can just picture it now.

amber, hope you've managed to get some rest today! you poor thing.

ibs, thanks for the link to that high chair! we've been thinking of the m/c wooden one, which separates up into chair & table, but I was really after a folding away one, bet john lewis have a huge online order run now...you should be on commission.

our night wasn't too bad, altho' i thought it was going to be horrible, as had to go back up to DS and resettle him 3 times (as if from scratch each time) by 8.30pm. me and hubby ended up having huge arguement. so i finally got in my bath and DS woke again for a feed! so hubby walked him around for a bit until i got out and we changed his nappy seeing as he was awake, so whether that made the difference i don't know. anyway, got 3 hours sleep in one go for the first time in ages, made a huge difference! just 2 wakings for BF, then in our bed 5, slept till 7.

now he's busy practising pulling his head up, don't think it'll be long before he's pulling to sitting. happy chappy only if being held by mummy today!

ImBarryScott · 16/08/2007 16:14

hi everyone,
tibs for all that feeding. hope jungle mania was as jolly as it sounds.

ginger for not settling this morning, but i did chuckle at the thought of you dd popping up. hope things go smoothly with going back to work - when is your first day?

amber and ginger - thanks for the tip re ergo. dd got too long and heavy for bjorn last week and we are both about that.

choolie -- sounds like a tricky night. but at least you had one decent stretch in amongst all those wakings.

am having a quiet cuddle with dd while she sucks on the dummy. she's definately dropping her last nap, but is very tired and grumpy at nap time. so i'm trying to encourage her at least to rest and chill out a bit. we've got radio 3 on, and it's relaxing me if not her!
