How long for your LO to stop daytime napping?

DS turns 3 in September and has a nap most days. Some days he won't nap and is fine without it - the only change is he'll go to sleep earlier in the evening.

He started having nap-free days in January where he didn't nap twice that month. Since then his number of nap-free days has gradually increased, so he now doesn't nap around twice a week.

This seems like a very long transition period to be dropping naps! 🤔 I have read that dropping the nap usually happens over a few weeks, not months...

How long did your LOs go from starting to drop naps to completely not needing them anymore? Thanks!

We've been like you. DD is almost 3, and very occasionally still has a nap. Since about Christmas she's been able to drop it on odd days with no I'll effect (it seemed to be cumulative: she could drop a day's nap, but two consecutive days would leave her grumpy. Then she could manage two days on a row, but three/four would lead to meltdown.) It's been gradual, we have ups and downs depending on what else has been going on. But it's been a LONG transition.
