Early waking - help!

My LO is 15 months and for the last 10 days or so has woken up between 5.15 and 5.30 ready to start his day!

He always used to wake between 6.30 and 7 and I haven’t changed his routine...so I’m a bit baffled as to why the sudden early morning wake up calls.

He goes to bed between 7 and 8pm and has a 1&1/2 - 2 hour nap in the day. So is getting around 11 - 12 hours total sleep a day. Most nights he sleeps through but occasionally will wake for a drink / cuddle.

I’ve tried putting him to bed earlier and later...and cutting his nap down. The bedroom is dark although it’s impossible to completely block out all the light. He has his milk and supper (usually a banana or yoghurt) an hour before bed so I don’t think he’s waking as he’s hungry.

I can just about get used to the early starts although I’d much prefer not to 😂 BUT the main thing is that it puts everything else out for the day. He is ready to nap around 9.30 (used to be 11/1130) so that means he’s awake by 1130 but then won’t nap again until bed which often means he’s overtired and grumpy!

I feel like he’s not getting enough sleep maybe?

Has anyone else been through this?
How did you solve it? How can I keep him awake longer in the morning before he sleeps?!

Not sure I can offer you any useful advice except to say I really believe it’s something to do with the light mornings. Both my DC’s did this and it was absolutely exhausting. I tried putting a gro-blind underneath our blackout blinds and blackout curtains but as you say it’s impossible to block out all the light. With my 2 this problem magically fixes itself once the evenings and mornings get darker, but the worst thing is that I find myself wishing the summer away when I’m really tired to get rid of the early wake up calls.
Hopefully someone else has something more useful to say! 😂

Would it just be the time of year or weather? I have been waking around 5am for the past couple of weeks.
